Descrizione:The paper revisits the hypothesis of the Greek influence on Sanskrit theater, put forward, for the first time, by Weber. Based on the information provided by Plutarch (Mor. 328d, Alex. 8.2-3, Alex. 72.1 y Crass. 33.2) and Philostratus (V A 2.32), the expansion of Hellenism throughout Central Asia is proposed as the ideal scenario for the occurrence of said influence. Against other similar proposals (Windisch, Reich, Free, Walker), it is concluded that the influence, if it did happen, would have been largely mediated by the plays of Euripides.
