Health and psychological well-being in older adults who attend Day Centers

Opis:The objective of the study was to identify the health and psychological well-being of older adults in service centers in the southwestern region of Puerto Rico. Descriptive research with 55 participants of both sexes. A spreadsheet of sociodemographic and general health data was used, anthropometric measurements were made, and Ryff psychological well-being scale was applied. Statistical analysis included a Mann-Whitney U normality test; Pearson and Spearman correlation to determine associations between variables. An A t-test, Anova and Chi-square analysis of variance to determine differences. The participants were mostly women. The median age was 75. 0 ± 8. 5, with predominant pre-university schooling and low socioeconomic status. Self-reported health between fair and good; the health index was moderate, lower in females. The main is chronicity it was hypertension, diabetes, and arthritis. Most slept adequately, few drank and smoked. They were mostly obese and with enlarged waists. Psychological well-being was low (72. 4 ± 10. 4), lower in men. Autonomy was positively associated with health and negatively with BMI and disease.
