Dentogingival facial a esthetic parameters of the provinces of Alajuela y Guanacaste

Descripción:The purpose of this study was to analyze the dentogingivofacial smile parameters in a population of the provinces of Guanacaste and Alajuela in Costa Rica. 150 people are selected for the study, 73 people in the province of Alajuela and 77 in Guanacaste. Photographs were taken of participants using a positioner, which allowed standardizing the position of the head, then the pictures were classified based on the parameters of the smile, Tjan (1984). We conclude that the average smile predominant in males in the province of Alajuela and the high smile in female. In the province of Guanacaste the average smile prevails in both gender. The analysis of the relationship of upper incisal edges and lower lip shows that in the province of Alajuela a parallel smile is the predominant characteristic. For the province of Guanacaste, the inverted and straight smiles are predominant in males, and for the female gender the parallel smile. The contact relationship of the maxillary incisal edge with the lower lip is mostly contactless. In the province of Alajuela the predominant number of teeth exposed in men is 10 and for women are 12. In the province of Guanacaste 12 is the number of teeth presented in men and 10 in women.
