Opis:This article assesses the importance of references to William Walker and the filibustero invasion of Central America in the late 1850s in José Martí’s work. They appear repeatedly as poetic images or in sentences of Central America in the late 1850s in José Martí’s work. They appear repeatedly as poetic images or in sentences of clear political content in his chronicles of the Pan American Conference. They function as warning messages regarding the dangerous neighborship with the United States, which can only be counterbalanced by unity in the region.
