Description:At the beginning of the 21st century, we went through a period of uncertainty and historical perplexity, dominated by confusion, disarray and despair. Given this new context, Ignatian accompaniment emerges as a hope and a pedagogical proposal to guide today’s young people who have to live and face a new cultural reality. The objective of this essay is to describe the essential characteristics of Ignatian accompaniment in a contemporary context. The considerations that were reached are: The Ignatian companion is a person of faith, integrity and a teacher with a particular profile; the accompaniment leads the teacher and students through a dialogue towards an integral human and faith education, and Ignatian accompaniment requires using the tools of the digital world to guide youngsters from their natural every day relationship spaces.
