| Miêu tả: | The aim of this study is to describe how elementary school children portray children´s play in drawings. Data was collected in two consecutive weeks. The children were asked to describe their drawings. These interviews were transcribed, and the drawings were categorized by type of play, amount of physical activity, age, gender, social dimension and setting. Results show that the boys´ drawings represent competitive sports activities performed outdoors in the presence of other boys. In contrast, the girls´ drawings portray more sedentary activities performed indoors in the presence of other girls or adult women. In conclusion, children´s drawings might help to understand children´s play and thus provide alternatives to the prevailing models of physical culture imposed from early childhood. |
