| Description: | The initial growth (30 months) of duraznillo (Prunus annularis) was studied in a forest plantation of Costa Rica. Eight plots with an initial density of 722 trees ha-1 were studied. The average height was 119.3–204.3 cm, and the volume was 0.058–0.685 m3 ha-1. No differences in volume and height of trees were observed, regardless of weed control frequency. It is concluded that duraznillo shows a rather slow initial growth rate under commercial forest plantations, when compared to other tree species studied under similar conditions in the region. |
