| Cur Síos: | The present article examines Rodrigo Facio’s essays “Una Universidad Libre” and “La Justicia en la Pequeña República Universitaria” with the purpose of determining the role that both Justice and Freedom play in the author’s humanist thinking. Prior to the analysis of Facio’s texts, this article carries out a theoretical approach to the genre of essay, understood, in essence, as the writing of the Self. Conclusions are drawn at the end of the article, where emphasis is placed on Rodrigo Facio’s contribution to the University of Costa Rica and particularly to the process of its student body formation. |
