Descripción: | The present article aims to analyze the notion of "port" in the pictorial work of the Costa Rican artist Max Jimenez Huete (1900-1947) from a semiotic and cultural perspective. It is fundamental to point out that the visual proposal of the architect is characterized by retaking the figure of the Afro-descendant and by promoting a discourse of rupture with the Costa Rican hegemonic art. This disruption fosters the representation of other voices and other landscapes, as well as symbolizing the port as a space for cultural exchange and Carnival festivity. |
