Descripción:Research in the educational field aims to answer questions that arise in teaching practice. Every research process is based on the scientific method and can resort to different paradigms according to the needs of the researcher and the area of ​​knowledge in which they are applied. The objective of this study is to provide a general bibliographic review of some important concepts related to qualitative, quantitative and mixed research. In this way, it seeks to provide researchers with a synthesis of educational research approaches and their relationship with the practice of teaching. In this way, an overview of observation is presented as an essential technique for research and improvement of the educational process. It is possible to verify that researchers in education have at hand the resource of observation within their classrooms, which can be used to continuously improve the work of educational practice.
