Omschrijving:The work environment must be linked to what motivates and excites us, since it involves a large part of our lives. The purpose of this article focused on analyzing the factors associated with the job satisfaction of the teaching staff of a public university and a private university located in Lima, Peru. The quantitative methodology was used with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and level of correlational study. The data were collected in 2018 through an adapted questionnaire on job satisfaction, which meets the properties of validity and reliability. The sample was made up of 98 professors in the category of ordinary. The treatment of the data was based on the use of the techniques of descriptive and inferential statistics, such as the t test, U of Mann-Whitney, ANOVA and the correlation of Spearman. The results show that recognition, working conditions, achievement, compensation, and promotion opportunities are associated with job satisfaction, while sociodemographic and academic factors, such as age group, sex, academic background, and job category are not associated with it. In addition, it was shown that there is no difference between the levels of job satisfaction of the professors of the two universities. Finally, possible scopes and proposals to improve the levels of job satisfaction of university teaching staff are presented.
