Lessons Learnfed from the Development of the Major of Educational Computer Science of Universidad Nacional (UNA) in Collaboration with Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), Atlantic Branch

Descripción:This article describes the main results, findings and learning obtained from the execution of the interuniversity agreement between Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) and Universidad Nacional (UNA), which made it possible to teach a major of Computer Science Education on the Atlantic branch campus of the University of Costa Rica. This project was supported and financed by CONARE (Consejo Nacional de Rectores). This support allowed to offer the in the 2009-2015 period, making it possible for two generations of students to graduate. Different departments of both universities participated actively and dynamically in the creation and development of the agreement, with the main objective of benefiting the population of the Atlantic area, specifically the cantons of Turrialba, Paraíso, and Guápiles, where the academic offer was expanded with the inclusion of a major oriented towards promoting the use of technology in education.
