Descripció:Marine macroalgae are increasingly investigated as sources of food ingredients, hydrocolloids, biomaterials, bioactive compounds, animal-feed additives, biostimulants, and other applied products. Although global bibliometric studies have provided overviews of macroalgal research, an integrated bibliometric and text-mining synthesis comparing applied research across genera selected for their relevance to aquaculture planning in Costa Rica remains lacking. We analyzed 2,996 Scopus-indexed articles published from 2000 to April 2024 on 16 genera relevant to Costa Rican aquaculture. The analysis combined manual screening, supervised AI-assisted classification, and bibliometric mapping of publication trends, industrial sectors, countries, journals, institutions, authors, and keywords. Publication output increased after 2010 and accelerated from 2018 to 2023, especially in the health, agri-livestock, food, manufacturing, and biotechnology sectors. Sargassum, Ulva, and Gracilaria had the largest publication volumes, while India, China, and South Korea accounted for approximately 30% of the records. Keyword networks centered on antioxidant and antimicrobial activity, polysaccharides, extraction, nanoparticles, methane mitigation, and biomaterials, indicating that much of the literature remains focused on exploratory biochemical characterization and in vitro bioactivity studies. These patterns provide evidence-based insights for preliminary research prioritization. Sargassum, Ulva, Gracilaria, and Asparagopsis appear to be promising candidates for further evaluation, followed by Padina, Codium, Cladophora, Gracilariopsis, and Hypnea. However, bibliometric evidence alone cannot determine their suitability for aquaculture development and specific applications. Their potential use in Costa Rica should be evaluated through local cultivation trials, strain selection, seasonal biochemical profiling, contaminant screening, supply-chain assessment, regulatory evaluation, and techno-economic feasibility.
