Descrizione:The purpose of this investigation was to explore the effectiveness of an English for Specific Purpose (ESP) course for Business Administration students. Students of the Master’s program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language designed this course as a graduation project with the purpose of improving students’ English proficiency in their professional field. The design was based on a thorough study of this specific population’s needs, wants, and lacks and followed the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT). Moreover, the successful achievement of goals and objectives and the students’ attitudes towards the relevance of the course contents were the factors considered to evaluate the effectiveness of the course. Mixed methods were implemented to measure results such as teacher observations, analytic rubrics, student surveys, and focus groups. The results show that the course was effective to a great extent because the students met performance expectations in all main tasks. Additionally, the students rated the course favorably in terms of its relevance to their professional fields.
