Knowing these problems and looking for alternatives to solve this damage to nature are important actions to practice as humanity. In this study, environmental problems, philosophical concepts and political, ethical and ecological alternatives were investigated from the literary consultation and cases of articles and academic works that used Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were selected to deepen the usefulness of said tool. The results of this search show that the bioeconomy is an economic system based on the application of knowledge and technologies for the production of goods and services from the sustainable use of natural biological resources; likewise, they demonstrate through cases that GIS, as a technological instrument, are a great tool for preparing environmental studies and for making decisions in favor of the environment.
