Descripció:Inositols are hexahydroxycyclohexanes formed by nine stereoisomers, most of them biologically active. The present review aims to recapitulate the main effects of myo-inositol (MI) on the pathological characteristics of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and its role as a regulator of the female hormonal and biochemical response. Patients with PCOS present clinical, hormonal, metabolic and physiological disorders that require specialized long-term treatment. For its part, inositol has been shown to be effective in reducing the severity of symptoms, regulating menstrual function, and improving the hormonal profile by controlling metabolic parameters, so its administration represents an effective option for the management of symptoms. of PCOS. Despite this, there are limitations in the studies such as, being a syndrome, PCOS is a heterogeneous condition with a wide variety of symptoms and clinical manifestations, which is why it also implies a variety of responses in patients to MY treatment. In recent years, their research has generated promising therapeutic evidence, but there is still a need to cover more controlled and double-blind studies to define its effect according to PCOS phenotypes, as well as long-term research that evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the treatment over periods of time. Prolonged. In general, MI represents an effective and safe alternative for the treatment of PCOS, showing results like those presented by other treatments without the presence of known side effects.
