Descripció:A prerequisite for planning a farm is to have available information about the characteristics of the producer and her or his family, about the available natural resources and about the existing production system. For proposing changes in the use and management natural resources, is necessary to know, to analyze and interpret what is available in the production unit. This is why it is plated characterize five farms located in an indigenous community named Shuabb, in Telire district, Talamanca, Limón, Costa Rica. For the organic cocoa (Theobroma cacao) production, under a traditional agroforestry system. The organic approach under a sustainable management of natural resources, coincides with the traditional and spiritual standard of the indigenous. A typology was established based on biophysical aspects for the five selected farms and a socioeconomic characterization of the beneficiary families; based on the results it was proposed a production design and an agronomic management, for establishing the agroecological systems.
