Description:The current debate about human rights is part of an unfinished intercultural dialogue about the principles of living in a society that deserves to be called human. From this perspective, this article discusses the successive “generations” of human rights, analyzes the idea of “fundamental rights” for indigenous peoples, and reflects upon the relationship between anthropology and the intercultural dialogue about human rights.
