Descripció:This essay presents some of the results of a qualitative research whose main source are the in-depth interviews made to people who were born in the early XXth Century and who reside in rural Costa Rica. Among the results, we found that the way in which they live their poverty condition is related to other affective experiences and to hegemonic representations of reality, such as the xenophobic and individualistic discourses, so poverty is explained through mystic or willpower argumentations, which set aside the role of the economic and social policies.
