Description:The endless conquest: poscolonial reflections on otherness. This paper develops a reflection on the conquest of America and the political and ideological process that structure the dynamics of colonial power. First, we will analyze the images of the Other that appear in the text of the Conquest. Then, we will compare this image with some texts of the republican period in Central America, and finally with some postwar speeches from Guatemala. We suggest the existence of a “discourse of conquest” that continues to set the social imagination and the power relations.
