Popis:From the beginning of 1900 until the decade of the sixties, a discussion at the intellectual, project and socio-political level began to emerge in the Costa Rican prison panorama, which was aimed at getting the country into the criminal advances on a global level. Therefore, the present work seeks to develop the theme of criminal policy of the twentieth century with regard to its link with the historical development of the Costa Rican prison system, within the framework of a geographical space of socio-environmental relations such as San Lucas Island. By functioning as a prison with its own agrarian colony, this allowed the inmates to produce their own food and reduce their maintenance costs; Likewise, it seeks to understand the study of criminal policy, the intellectual discussions (national and international) and the different proposals of agricultural penitentiary colonies in the country as a prison treatment of resocialization for prisoners.
