Description:The shoulder joint is a complex anatomical unit, in which different structures work together so it can have a great range of motion while maintaining its integrity and stability. Shoulder joint disease is a common consultation reason in emergency and primary care services, thus representing a challenge for health care providers, given its complexity and important anatomical relationships. The purpose of this paper is to present a review of the main anatomical considerations of the shoulder joint, some practical basis to its clinical evaluation, and finally an overview of the most frequent disorders affecting this joint, so as to serve as a guide for the management during clinical practice.
