| Description: | This article sets forth the discussion on a proposed approach for the analysis of monetary history from the perspective of the Social Sciences. The crux of the discussion lies in that currency and the monetary systems are construed as a social relationship and are determined by the Market, the State and Society. The approach essentially considers that the acceptance of a new currency requires the creation of legitimacy and credibility mechanisms. |
