Opis:Bakhtin?s carnival, hero of gay deceit and framing genres, Anti Arne?s typology of the folktale, and Vladimir Propp?s morphology of the folktale are the main theories employed in this analysis of the anonymous poem Aucassin et Nicolette. It is against the backdrop of thirteenth century Arab Spanish Provencal Mediterranean that power struggles are held, pointing to the strong presence of the Arabic world in European territory and culture and producing interesting hybrids.
