Miêu tả:Plant cell wall formation involves complex processes where the components vary as the plant develops. The availability of structural polysaccharides is limited by the cell walls’ structure and composition in grasses, mainly due to phenolic compounds. This review aims to provide a better understanding of cell wall synthesis and the processes of development and growth in grasses. Scientific research on the feruloylation process was consulted, specifically concerning the modification of cell wall composition and its impact on ruminant nutrition. This process leads to a cessation of plant growth due to the deposition of tissues forming the cell wall, reducing forage degradability and energy content, resulting in less digestible grass. Recent studies have proposed cultural and genetic strategies to prevent or control the effects of feruloylation. It is possible to deactivate genes involved in the process through genetic modification, so carbohydrates do not deposit in structural materials and are available to ruminants. Due to limited research and the changes, it induces in the physicochemical properties of the cell wall, its scope in pasture production is considered limited at the moment.
