| Deskribapena: | In a survey for immature blackflies in 100 streams in Costa Rica, seven species of the subgenus, Hemicnetha are recorded: S. (H.) dehnei, S. (H.)freemani, S. (H.) hieroglyphicum, S. (H:) mexicanum, S. (H.) paynei, S. (H.) pulverulentum and S. (H.) virgatum. The geographical distribution and sorne ecological observations are als o included. |
