その他の書誌記述:Introduction: Suicide in old age is a complex phenomenon built over the life course, shaped by cumulative biopsychosocial factors. Objective: To explore protective and risk factors shaping the risk attitude towards suicide attempts among older adults enrolled in the Older Adult Health Program (PSAM) at a Family Health Center in Santiago, Chile. Methodology: A qualitative, exploratory study with a narrative approach, using the biographical method. Twenty-seven in-depth interviews were conducted with individuals aged 65 to 91, analyzing experiences from childhood to late adulthood. Results: Protective factors included emotional support, community engagement, self-care, and stable support networks. Risk factors comprised abandonment, violence, significant losses, isolation, and chronic illness. In at-risk life trajectories, adversities accumulated from early stages, increasing vulnerability in old age. Conclusions: The suicidal risk attitude develops relationally and cumulatively, making it essential to address life histories and social determinants in prevention strategies. Findings highlight the need to strengthen support networks, promote emotional well-being, and implement comprehensive primary care interventions.
