Descrição:This essay proposes a situated and affective reading to understand textiles as an interstitial social phenomenon, capable of overflowing binaries and tensioning the dividing lines between arts and crafts, public and private, oppression and resistance, academia and everyday textile practices. The interstitial, as a form of potential, unfolds as an “in-between” space: crack, fissure, fold, and line of escape, fostering friction, entanglement, and con-tact between defined or separated categories. The relational and material dimension of textiles expands their interstitial potential and illuminates genealogies of struggles and resistances shaped around and through feminist textile aesthetics. It also enables the exploration of everyday politicities and desires that embody textile knowledge, practices, and materials, thereby opening possible horizons and producing subtle disruptions in the social fabric. From an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective, articulating elements of the sociologies of art, Latin American feminisms, affect studies, textiles, and material culture, the proposal offers a sensitive reflection that seeks to contribute to critical social studies on/with textiles, thinking with materials, gestures, and affects entangled in practices, mobilizing embodied, everyday and relational aesthetics.
