Description:A literature review on onion white rot or “torbó”, caused by the fungus Sclerotium cepivorum Berk. was performed. This review includes its world distribution, typical symptoms, causal agent, hosts, pathogen life cycle, epidemiology and disease control strategies. A brief description of the importance of onion crop in Costa Rica, areas where it is produced and the main disease impact were also included.
