Descrizione:This article aims to examine, in the context of Costa Rica, the status of the ‘Indicator of Employment under Conditions of Equity’ proposed within the International Labour Organisation’s framework for decent work. In this regard, we will examine whether or not the indicator is being met in light of gender-disaggregated employment statistics for the years 2007 to 2010, with the aim of determining whether there is discrimination between men and women in access to employment. Despite the country’s extensive regulatory framework, this exercise will help identify possible levels of discrimination against women and whether we are facing what is known as the ‘feminisation of poverty’.
