Description:This article aims to study the origin of sport in Honduras from 1903 to 1921, when soccerand baseball acquired the national representation category. This study examines issuesfrom La Prensa (1908-1916), El Nuevo Tiempo (1911-1919), El Cronista (1917-1919), RevistaLos Sucesos (1918-1921), Revista Tegucigalpa (1919) and Diario Excélsior (1921) so as todetermine a historical reconstruction of sports in Honduras between 1903 and 1921. Fromthese facts we conclude that, during the time period studied, sport in Honduras was controlledby the national bourgeoisie and the main foreign colonies. Moreover, the HonduranState’s economical and political weakness resulted in meager support for the social andnational development of sports in general.
