| Diğer Bilgiler: | The Old Man Who Read Love Stories, by Luis Sepúlveda, has been primarily studied as a work that denounces environmental damage in Amazonia and expresses an ecological consciousness. However, the theme of human territoriality has received less attention. This paper analyzes how the novel portrays the strategies of territorial delimitation and control employed by both the Ecuadorian state and the Shuar indigenous community, each implemented with specific purposes. Based on this analysis, the study concludes that the forms of territoriality deployed by the Shuar influence the transformation of the protagonist, José Antonio Bolívar Proaño, who becomes an ally and protector of both the indigenous community and the Amazonian environment. |
