Περιγραφή:In order to understand the professional identity configurations that emerge in everyday and work life, considering the transformations of the new public management (NMP) and taking Chilean social work as a case, this article is organized from two broad areas. By virtue of the above, in order to understand the professional identity configurations that emerge in this scenario and taking as a case of Chilean social work, this article is organized from two broad areas: On the one hand, materiality’s that are associated with legal statutes, that prescribe and subject to this profession, and on the other, the narratives of social work professionals in different performance spaces, considering as relevant aspects, their training and work trajectories. The starting point is an interpretive paradigm and the research method of grounded theory is used, in order to make knowledge emerge from the people themselves. The results show tensions, crises and the emergence of a precarious configuration in terms of identity and work for this profession, in times of neoliberal hegemony.
