| Miêu tả: | One of the major social tension today is between the demands of price capital and “national” goverments for economic growth and the demands of local communities for segurity and livelihoods. Sustainable development is commonly believed to resolve these tension by reconciling global economic interest, ecological and local interests. The paper assesses the implementation of sustainable development in Costa Rica rain forest, through Canada /Costa Rica debt-for-nature investment. In rhis case, funds were channelled to rhe Wiordl Wildlife Fund-Canadá (WWF-C)c and the National Institute for Biodiversity (INBio) of Costa Rica. The paper argues that the concept of sustainable development articuted as a new framework fro international donor and NGO practices, creates new poverty among local people. |
