Descrição:This article aims to show the relationship between media use and the formation of civil society and political culture in Latin America.The case study tells the history of print media in favor of building institutions in Ecuador from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. This analytical and theoretical trajectory, a characterization of the various streams of discourse that promoted the early decades of the twentieth century, the production of print media discourses in the construction of modern society. The analysis works around the configuration of urban working class and ethnicity as elements of inclusion and difference in Ecuadorian society.
