| Popis: | This article provides a comprehensive review of all studies on the phonetics and phonology of Costa Rican Spanish published between 1951 and 2025. It systematizes their main empirical contributions, with particular emphasis on studies based on quantitative data, and offers an integrated account of vocalism, consonantism, suprasegmental phenomena, and other sociolinguistically oriented phonetic-phonological studies. The article does not establish systematic comparisons with other varieties of Spanish, nor does it evaluate the quality of the studies reviewed; rather, it aims to present as complete an overview as possible of the state of the art. In this way, it is intended as a reference tool for future research on Costa Rican Spanish that helps identify areas that require more detailed analysis from current methodological perspectives. |
