الوصف:This article documents as exhaustively as the sources used allow the origin and evolution of the standard narrative of the Annexation of the Nicoya District to Costa Rica. For this purpose, the period chosen extends from the appearance of the first narrative motifs in the historiography to the celebration of the Centenary of this event in 1924. First, the controversy surrounding the concept of Annexation is revisited. Then, the historiographical accompaniment of the topic is carried out, attending not to its informative content, but its narrative aspect; that is, not historicization, but narrativization. Finally, some conclusions are drawn about the relevance of the term annexation, the creative process of the standard narrative, its implications for the construction of the Costa Rican national identity device and the perspectives for its rewriting.
