Description:Through a revision of the sources and use of photographs of the 1909 Tragic Week in Barcelona, we see how the Spanish Empire not only persecuted those it colonized people but also its own citizens. This is not only the first visual representation of the Empire Against Its Own, but also the story of the two Freemasons accused of having orchestrated a rebellion. The first photographed upheaval in the history of Spain, its depiction of a barricade revolution is often confused with those of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) in Barcelona.
