الوصف:The previous exposure to an antigen causes sensitization of the individual; this repeated exposure to the same antigen generates a pathological reaction defined as hypersensitivity, or an exacerbated response to the antigen. Dental students are exposed for prolonged periods to the daily use of various dental materials. This article aims to determine the prevalence of atopy in dental students, and also to identify possible risk factors for the condition. A transversal descriptive study was carried out to a population of 1351 students using a survey as a measuring instrument; a generalized descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was used with the population studied. A prevalence of 19% of allergy is obtained from dental materials, both in dental students of the UCR and private universities, indicating that the development of allergies has a direct correlation with exposure to such dental materials , without association of the physical space. There was a statistically significant difference by sex, being higher in women.
