תיאור:This article, derived from my doctoral thesis, analyzes the artistic practices in the public space of Parque Castelli Neighborhood Assembly after the flood in La Plata city (Buenos Aires) in 2013 and the dispute, mainly with the Municipality, over that space. It focuses on the neighborhood space, where the artistic practices of the Assembly were carried out. It was based on a qualitative methodology and a transdisciplinary theoretical perspective, which implies a complex view of the relationship between the social political process and artistic productions. It required participant and non-participant observation; semi-structured interviews to the assembly members; and a transdisciplinary methodological design composed from the contributions of Urban Sociology, Social Studies of Art, and Political Geography. The analyzed symbolic-material practices of repossession and construction of public space identified conflicts, antagonisms, and other ways of conceiving and constructing that space. In this sense, the urban space, as a social construction where the material and the symbolic are connected, unleashes multiplicity of demands; projects; and social dynamics, including artistic-cultural proposals.
