Through a review of manuals, investigations, and journalistic articles, it is established that the construction of sexual normality was influenced by sexological, psychoanalytic, and hygienic knowledge, and was characterized by its unstable, precarious, and contradictory character. It is concluded that normality, in addition to its disciplinary nature, also played an important role in shaping subjectivities, gradually entering the imaginary of popular culture.
