Описание:This article aims to identify the scientific, educational, and media discourses - present in a corpus of texts of the time - among whose main axes is sexual normality and, in this way, analyze some of the main historical processes that made up the notion of heterosexuality in Costa Rica between the 1930s and 1950s. Through a review of manuals, investigations, and journalistic articles, it is established that the construction of sexual normality was influenced by sexological, psychoanalytic, and hygienic knowledge, and was characterized by its unstable, precarious, and contradictory character. Likewise, said construction process produced the conformation of its threats. It is concluded that normality, in addition to its disciplinary nature, also played an important role in shaping subjectivities, gradually entering the imaginary of popular culture.
