الوصف:This paper studies direct and indirect effects of the lack of local energy supply, both because of the energy biophysical constraints of economics and because of the impact over the balance of payment. Additionally it studies the Argentinean energy system and the existence of both limitations because of the reduction in the energy-self-sufficiency degree and the increasing energy imports. Results show that the lack of local energy supply will demand increasing energy imports, particularly in developing countries such as Argentina. In the terms of the Thirwall´s Law, this situation will imply a pressure over the balance of payment, which will also depend on the structure of imports and exports. Conclusions enhance the relevance on the energy policy withthe aim of energy-self-sufficiency.
