その他の書誌記述:This paper presents a theoretical approach to the direct implications—given the biophysical limits of the economy—and the indirect implications, through the impact on the trade balance, of the lack of local supply. The current situation of the Argentine energy system is analyzed as a case study, highlighting the existence of both limitations as a result of the decline in the degree of energy self-sufficiency and the growing demand for imports of energy resources. The results of the analysis show that the lack of local supply will require increasing energy imports to sustain economic growth, particularly in the case of developing countries such as Argentina. This situation places pressure on the balance of payments, as predicted by Thirlwall’s Law, which becomes even more significant considering the structure of local imports and exports. The conclusions highlight the importance of energy policy aimed at achieving national energy self-sufficiency.
