Deskribapena:Economic literature about income and consumption determinants has been positively oriented to poverty measurement, hence there had been few attempts to analyze the capabilities and potentialities of wealthiest people. From data collected by the National Bureau of Statistics and Census of Costa Rica in the Income and Expenditure Survey 2004, we make an ordered logit regression analysis of consumption on different socioeconomic variables. The main outcomes show that, perhaps education is a good factor to avoid the poorest classes of the consumption distribution, it does not guarantee a place in the wealthiest ones; that wealth is highly concentrated in the urban zone of Central Region, and that income of wealthiest families strongly depends on a rent component.
