Miêu tả:Classification corresponds to an information management process that allows the assignment of classes or themes to a set of documents, in order to make them accessible efficiently and effectively in information units such as archives, libraries, and documentation centers. By comparing some information sciences such as archival science and library science, it is possible to recognize that classification establishes a set of guidelines that enable the proper organization, storage, and retrieval of information. Through a qualitative approach and descriptive research, the main characteristics related to the types of classification in archival science and library science employed in Costa Rica are detailed, which have been addressed in professional training to understand the theoretical-practical landscape of both sciences in the national context. The final results of the research indicate that while there is a consolidation of classification systems in library science, in archival science there is a process of evolution of this process in accordance with the new market needs at the national level. Upon conclusion of the analysis, it is evident that both sciences have different objects of study but share the common goal of providing appropriate information treatment according to the needs of stakeholders.
