Descrizione:The article indicates new aspects that were included in the Free Trade Agreement, signed among the Central American countries, Dominican Republic and the United Stats, aspectos which were the ones that generated controversy at national levels, causing the largest popular debate ever recorded in Costa Rican history. Like never before, the country rendered its opinion regarding the possible approval or denial of this commercial tool, which even though it was not the first time that a similar deal was intended to become part of the country’s legal framework, it was indeed pioneering in matters of multilateral agreements. The purpose is to create awareness of the aspects and commitments to which that national authorities compromised once the treaty entered in full effect. Throughout the article a walkthrough is done on the five main areas that were added to the agreement and the implications that each one of these represent to the country.
