| Popis: | The author reviews the various opinions published regarding the taxonomic position of the species of Mehlisia Johnston, 1913. After careful study of the original descriptions and specimens of Johnston, he crea the the new family Mehlisiidae on the basis of charateristics of the reproductive apparatus, vitellariae, excretory apparatus and suckers, to comprise the two earlier species of Mehlisia and M. gatesi Sharma, 1943 (synonym: Sharmaia gatesi ( Sharma, 1943) Yamaguti, 1958) , reinstated as valid in the genus. M. ornithorhynchi (Johnston, 1901) Johnston, 1913, is designated as the type of the genus Mehlisia. |
