Beskrivelse:The paper addresses the transition of agricultural activity towards an intensive model integrated with industry, which responded to agribusiness initiatives, favorable endogenous conditions and processes of technological innovation disseminated in the fields of Abajejo. To this end, the analysis of the strawberry as a representative crop of the processes of productive diversification and regional economic articulation of the extractive type is taken up again. From a historical-economic perspective, supported by archival work that integrates quantitative data with qualitative descriptions, the positive and negative effects on the recomposition of the economy are evidenced. The regional analysis focuses on the background of transnational corporate processes at the end of the 20th century, which modified the local productive fabric and increased the socioeconomic gaps and cumulative processes linked to cash crops. This background is fundamental to understand the agrarian conditions of rural areas in recent years. This research shows, on the one hand, the entrepreneurial dynamics and their success in terms of markets, capital and economic rationality. And, on the other hand, how these logics failed to link the diverse actors and realities of the rural areas.
