Description:We studied a female raccoon (Procyon lotor) with radio-telemetry between March and September, 1985, in Tapantí National Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica. The animal showed two home-ranges, of 120 ha and 21 ha, one 7 km from the other. The raccoon followed a river between the two home-ranges. The average distance covered per hour between two consecutive points was 639 m per hour. The raccoon was more active in the absence of rain (80% activity). Approximately 86% of the radio locations of the animal were less than 200 m from a river or stream.
